About The Coin Cadence Bitcoin Price Index
The Coin Cadence Bitcoin Price Index is a first of its kind effort to analyze and present historical and real time global Bitcoin pricing data from all active Bitcoin exchanges that support deposits and withdrawals in US Dollars.
Launched in March of 2014 the price of the Coin Cadence Bitcoin Exchange Index represents the average US Dollar Bitcoin price across the leading global Bitcoin exchanges.
Any active Bitcoin exchange that supports US Dollars may be included at our sole discretion. An exchange may be removed if it becomes inactive, insolvent, or trades outside of acceptable margins as compared with the rest of the index. If you operate or use an exchange not listed and you would like to be considered for inclusion, please contact us.
All Bitcoin exchanges included in the index along with their last price and API status are listed on the Index page.
The index is calculated as a simple average of the included exchanges. The index price is updated every minute. If during a round of calculations a given exchange API is not responding the index is calculated by removing that exchange from the average and returning it as soon as its API is available.
Index historical data is provided as of March 7th, 2014. We only use data we collect and verify on our own systems, data prior to March 7th will not be available.
24hr and 1hr high, low, and change data is calculated in real time. As the Bitcoin market is never closed there are no open and close prices.
The "Platform Data" section is collected directly from the Bitcoin public ledger (blockchain) and has been confirmed by the Bitcoin network. Market Capitalization in this section is based on the current USD price and the number of Bitcoin in circulation.
All times are UTC.
The Bitcoin market is young and volatile, we expect exchanges to come and go in the future, and will adapt the index accordingly. At its inception on March 7th, 2014 the Coin Cadence Bitcoin Exchange Index included the following 6 exchanges: Bitfinex, BTC-e, Bitstamp, CampBX, CoinBase and Kraken. Changes, enhancements and additions of new exchanges or removal of existing ones will be reported here with the date and explanation.
